Play Fitness & Performance was founded in 2014 by Khan Porter, a 9-time CrossFit Games competitor who brought elite-level experience and standards to Sydney’s fitness community. Khan’s vision was to create a gym where performance and accessibility coexisted—where members could work toward competition standards and prescribed weights while maintaining a sense of fun and never taking themselves too seriously.
That foundation—pursuing excellence without pretension—continues to define who we are today. We’ve been a CrossFit affiliate for over 12 years, and as our members’ interests evolved, so did we. The expansion to Play Fitness & Performance reflects the changing landscape of fitness and our commitment to meeting our community where they are, whether that’s CrossFit, HYROX, Hybrid training, youth development, or personalized coaching.
Now led by owner Sam Sullivan, Play has grown, offering multiple training programs while maintaining the coaching quality and welcoming culture. We’re more than a gym—we’re a community of people committed to getting better, supporting each other, and enjoying the process.

Book an intro session where we’ll discuss your goals, show you the facility, and help you determine which program is right for you. From there, we’ll get you set up with the appropriate membership and schedule.
No experience necessary for most programs. Our Hybrid program is perfect for beginners, and CrossFit classes can be scaled for any fitness level. Personal training is also available if you want one-on-one guidance to start.
Arrive 10 minutes early. Your coach will welcome you, explain the workout, and ensure you understand the movements. Every workout can be scaled to your current abilities—you’ll be challenged but never overwhelmed.
Yes! Your membership includes access to both CrossFit and HYROX classes. Many members attend both programs depending on their goals and schedule.
We offer Part Time ($75/week for up to 3 classes) and Unlimited ($85/week for unlimited classes). Both include access to CrossFit and Hybrid classes plus open gym access.
Memberships are week-to-week with no long-term contracts. You can cancel or pause your membership as needed.
Yes, we accommodate membership pauses for travel, injury, or other circumstances. Contact us to arrange a pause.
No, there is no joining fee at Play Fitness and Performance.
We accept all major payment methods.
Yes, we have dedicated free on-site parking available for all members and visitors.
Yes, full change rooms with showers are available.
We have comprehensive CrossFit and functional fitness equipment including barbells, rowers, ski ergs, assault bikes, gymnastics equipment, and more.
Open gym is available during non-class hours. Check the timetable for specific times.
If you’re new to fitness or want accessible movements, start with Hybrid. If you are interested in learning more advanced skills (weight-lifting or gymnastics), join CrossFit. Not sure? Book an intro session and we’ll help you decide.
Yes, your membership includes access to both programs. Many members attend classes from both.
Our coaches are experienced at modifying workouts for injuries and limitations. Let your coach know before class and they’ll provide appropriate scaling options.
Adults 18+ for CrossFit, HYROX, Hybrid, and Personal Training. Juniors program for ages 5-16. Drop-in visitors must over 18.
